Have you ever said this to yourself before? “I want to be healthy.” Guess what? People say that plenty of times, but they give up without even trying. It is probably because the idea of being healthy, and leading a healthy lifestyle does sound enticing but the process does not.

But guess what the good news is? It’s really not that hard. You just have to do it enough to where it becomes a habit, a routine. A lot of people say that they are not motivated enough, but you know what? Trust me, after you follow that routine for a few days where it becomes a habit, you will start to see changes. You will feel energized, lighter, cleaner and healthier. That is what is going to motivate you for the rest of your life. There a lot of people trying to lose those pounds and are singing the “I want to be healthy” tune. But the problem is that they are doing it wrong. They are taking pills and going on diets were they keep starving their body off of nutrients. That’s unhealthy and it does not work! It is a temporary fix. Just Temporary! To be healthy and to see permanent results you actually have to lead a healthy lifestyle. This includes mainly two things- eating healthy, and being active. That’s all there is to it. A lot of people think its hard. But seriously it is not. It is all in your mind. They are actually very fun. Once you start doing it and start seeing results, you will actually regret not starting sooner. It is a great feeling. It takes work. I know that. But guess what? You will see results, instantly. Besides, doing something that makes me feel better, and healthier, something that gives me so much more stamina, I am ready to do. You can do it too. Seriously, you can. You can start right now. All you have to do is, stop looking for reasons not to do it. Just do it and don’t give up too easy.

There is this saying, “where there is a will there is a way”. It Never gets old. Push yourself. You are in control of your body. You can make it or break it. Breaking it is easy. You know that too! Making it takes hard work (or at least in the beginning it does), but the results are so much better and life long. You feel better both physically and mentally.

When people graduate from college they have two options as far as work goes, they can go into the private sector or into the public sector. Those interested in pursuing a professional career in the private sector can choose whether they want to work in a privately owned company, or to become an entrepreneur and set up their own business. Most find this course of action better, but there are also those who are more tempted to go into the public sector. Those who live in the United States and decide to pursue a career in the public sector, unless elected into office, they must go through the proper channels, and if chosen, will become members of the US Federal Civil Service.

Now, in case you do not know what the Federal Civil Service is, the first thing that you need to know is that it comprehends all appointive positions in the government’s three branches (executive; legislative; judicial). Anyone working in the Federal Government, be it an office clerk or a presidential advisor, belongs in the Federal Civil Service, so as far as opportunities go, it is evident that it has many to offer college graduates. However, it is important that you at least have some basic understanding about the Federal Civil Service before getting into the sector; it is important that you know some things about how the service works because even though it does present several opportunities, materializing them is easier said than done.

The service is comprised of three different services; they are: the Competitive Service, the Excepted Service, and the Senior Executive Service. In essence, these three services are different in what has to do with requirements and procedures that any applicant must undergo before actually being appointed. For example, in what concerns positions within the Competitive Service, all applicants and employees must conform to the laws prescribed by the Office of Personnel Management; the laws delineate processes, procedures, and requirements that apply in everything that goes from appointments to promotions. In other words, the Federal Government is completely subject to laws and regulations establishes the Competitive Service. This, however, is not the case for the Excepted Service. Law in this service prescribes few requirements and procedures, and for the most part it is up to each agency to establish its norms, procedures, and requirements when making appointments. Third comes the Senior Executive Service, and any requirements and procedures are established unilaterally by individual agencies (although they must be based on minimum requirements that the law prescribes).
Having said this, it should be clear that the Senior Executive Service, apart from offering the most important posts in the public sector, is also the service that most closely resembles the private sector (in everything that has to do with appointment procedures and requirements). This is certainly the service that you should try to get into after graduating college, but if you find it hard to become a part of it, you can always seek for opportunities in any of the other two services. However, be advised that regardless of what service you go for, competition will be fierce and the Federal Government has no time, or tolerance, for mistakes. If you decide to pursue a career in the Federal Civil Service be prepared for stress, responsibility, discipline, and obedience; the law prescribes what is to be done and what is not to be done. So, if you get into the Federal Civil Service you have two options, you can do what the law and the Federal Government asks, or you can simply walk away and start a career in the private sector.

Often, it is mentioned that the present is more important than the future. But the opposite is true when it comes to having big dreams for your career. What most students do now is just go to school to learn and then look for a job later, but rare are those who are prudent in every step they take. Some have the gift of forward thinking so they’re able to accomplish what is needed so that they can attain their goals more easily after graduation. There is no guarantee that students will success in their professional careers. However, the chances of that happening will increase if they exert more effort in planning and investing their efforts in what must be done while they are in school.

If you are one of those students who wish to be more certain of their future, then you’re probably asking what particular things you should do to ensure success. Say, you desire to work abroad where there are better opportunities. But have you given much thought to the fact that the culture and language there might be different to what you’ve been accustomed to? If you’re not able to adapt to those right away, then they might become factors that will hinder success.

The More Language Skills, the Better

Learning an additional language does not seem to be a necessity now. However, you might be thankful later on that you took the time to learn it in school rather than struggling to do so while working. Jobs requiring cross-cultural communication become easier if you are fluent in their native language. In case you get sent to a different country in your future job, knowing the basics of that country’s language will prove to be of great help. The transition to a different working environment becomes less difficult if you know how to deal with locals. Everyday task such as shopping and commuting won’t be such a bother if you don’t have to consult a translation dictionary and if you don’t get misunderstood all the time. The more interaction with other people that you have to do, the greater the language skills that you have to possess. This might not appear to be necessary in the present, but you will definitely have a use for it in the future.
Math Is a Universal Skill

It seems that all jobs require math in one form or another. This is why it pays to be skilled in the said subject. Almost all kinds of jobs require individuals to perform mathematical operations, but the difference is that some jobs need it more extensively than others.

Being Environmental Is Good

Renewable energy is going to be very important. With a lot of disasters and problems happening to our world, there is now a greater focus on everything that pertains to the betterment and maintenance of the environment. Countries are making significant changes to their own carbon level emissions, and this means that the future will be more about renewable energy and the use of technologies with less environmental impact. It pays to start adjusting yourself now to the need to live cleaner, since a few years from now, transportation, communication, and technologies will be replaced with better options that protect Mother Earth.

Career Journey uses a unique approach designed to understand your needs and wants in life and develops an actionable plan to achieve your desired career.

Do you want a successful career? Not sure about your future studies? Career Coaching might be just what you need to get you on the right track.

When confronted with the choice between working in the public sector and working in the private sector, most people decide to go private. Why? Well, for most people the private sector holds the best jobs (which of course translate into better salaries, benefits, commodities, etc.) and the greater opportunities in terms of vertical mobility. However, there are those who believe that the public sector is also worthwhile; these people are confident that they can achieve all that they could achieve in the private sector, and then some. In all truth, the public sector is not all bad; certainly not like some people make it out to be. In the United States, for example, despite the fact that there are certain positions in the Federal Civil Service that are less than appealing, there are also some Federal Agencies that offer extremely attractive jobs. These jobs, apart from being handsomely rewarded (both in terms of salaries and associated benefits), create an environment that keeps workers happy and committed to their jobs.

Several government agencies are places where skilled, or specialized, labor, is seldom required; these agencies require more technical competencies, and given that there are millions who can perform in a way that meets expectations, there is no real incentive to offer major benefits or salaries. However, there are certain agencies that do require specialized labor, and what is more, they usually also require the utmost efficiency and commitment from all employees. It is not a secret that a happy worker works harder and better, and believe it or not, some Federal agencies, both large and small, go out of their ways to make their employees happy.

When talking about large agencies, perhaps the one that most satisfies its employees is the Nuclear Regulatory Commission; employee satisfaction peaked last year at 81.8%. Closely following the NRC came the Government Accountability Office, with an employee satisfaction of 81.6%. Now, moving on to small Federal agencies, the one that most accomplished in terms of customer satisfaction was the Surface Transportation Board, which registered an employee satisfaction that peaked at 86.8%. Another small Federal agency that registered impressively high employee satisfaction levels was the Overseas Private Investment Corporation, which peaked at 85.5%.

There are other Federal Agencies that also have managed to increase employee satisfaction, and this has surely made young college graduates think twice before making a final decision about whether they prefer to work in the private sector or in the public sector. Peace Corps, the Congressional Budget Office, the Department of State, the Department of Justice, and the Intelligence Community are also Federal agencies to strive to create more inviting work environments and offer better benefits to their workers. Now, this in no way means that the public sector is better than the private sector, or vice versa.

However, it does mean that in today’s world, Federal agencies are beginning to realize that in order to guarantee efficiency, transparency, and commitment from their workers, they have to offer certain incentives that keep their spirits and their motivation up. Workers look for security, vertical mobility, and increased financial possibilities that may lead to a better quality of life. As well, they are interested in working in an amiable environment, in a place where they can have some breathing space, some autonomy, and some leisure. As long as you can attain this, you will attain the best possible labor; the private sector has known this for a while, but it appears that the public sector is starting to follow suit.

The field of international relations has become increasingly important in today’s world; countries are more interdependent than ever as former barriers on trade and the flow of knowledge/information have disappeared, thus making it important for a given country or society, to not only understand what is going on in the world, but also the ways in which it must deal with other countries/societies. Professionals that engage in international relations are usually responsible for protecting their nations’ interests; these professionals who study international relations are diplomats. Given that the field has become quite important, especially now that globalization advances at an unprecedented rate, many students begin to pay attention to international relations, and naturally, to diplomacy. How can a student go about becoming a diplomat? This is the question that we propose to answer subsequently.

Theory is important for an individual that is interested in studying, and working in, international relations. In his opinion, theory is inevitably because it is important for a person to understand what is going on in the world; there are always many things going on in the world and in order for a person to understand them and what they signify, it is inevitable to have some theoretical knowledge in politics (this knowledge, of course, must be explicit; implicit knowledge is not enough because it is knowledge that an individual is unaware of, and unable to use). However, despite having sufficient knowledge (explicit knowledge) that will enable an individual to understand what is actually happening in the world, it is impossible for predictions to be made about what may or may not happen; strategic interaction makes prediction impossible because of the ever-changing strategies that all economic/political agents implement. As well, it is important that students be outgoing, that they interest in others’ problems, and that they are flexible. Third, anyone interested in becoming a diplomat must be fluent in more languages than one. English is naturally the top language that a diplomat needs to master, but other languages that are important to grasp are Chinese, Urdu, and Arabic.
As well, it is important that a diplomat be able to understand what each individual situation requires, and that he or she is able to act accordingly. For example, the United States brought war and destruction on Afghanistan and Iraq, despite the fact that international institutions, especially the United Nations (UN) did not approve of such action. Later on, the United States had to return and ask for the UN’s help in dealing with the ongoing and seemingly endless war in Iraq; the United States thought it could take care of things on its own, but as it turned out, it couldn’t. In this situation, the harmony between international powers had to be restored, and it was up to diplomacy to acquire this. Sure, all diplomats had different beliefs and ideas about what had happened, but they realized that peace was the most important objective, and so they were flexible and managed to reach an agreement.

Clearly, in order to become a diplomat there is lot that a student must engage in and train in; foreign languages, theoretical as well as practical knowledge, openness, and flexibility are but a few of the many things required in order to be successful. As well, it is important that any student interested in the field undertake studies in international relations, because that is what diplomacy is all about.

How to become an accountant is a question that most people with a knack for number crunching ask at one time or the other. After all an accountant’s job not only pays well, but their services too are always in demand!

Money makes the world go round and accountants manage the money! No business can exist without cash flow and neither can it survive if the inflow and outflow of cash is not recorded or managed appropriately.

Accountants are the people responsible for ensuring that companies and businesses carry out all financial obligations relating to statutory payments and maintain records of all financial transactions. A good accountant will maintain the records to give an accurate picture of the business’ health to the all the stakeholders.

Sounds interesting? The obvious question now is how to become an accountant?

There are different types of accountant responsibilities. For example a certified accountant or CPA would be eligible to perform a whole host of accounting jobs. Accountancy also has some specializations such as tax computation, bookkeeping or only auditing. The requirements for each of these jobs are different.

However, before you move further in your how to become an accountant research, it is advisable to first consider whether you have the aptitude for this job. You need to work with numbers and have to be comfortable with them. Your performance in math at the school level and the electives you take in college will also shape your decision to go take up an accountancy course.

You need to have a Bachelor’s degree in accounting which is a 4 year program at the undergraduate level. Some universities do offer programs that are accelerated courses, i.e. programs that would help you graduate earlier.

This Bachelor’s degree would cover courses on different aspects of accounting principles like the fundamentals, tax, cost, payroll and audit and so on. It would also expose you to popular software used so that you can become adept at working with computers as well.

Another important aspect of how to become an accountant is eligibility to appear for the rigorous four-part CPA certification program. Once you are able to clear this course, you become a certified CPA and would not only be able to carry out all accounting related tasks without any restrictions, but will also be able to demand a higher salary.

Other certified courses also offer professional recognition; these include CMA, CIA and CISA courses.

How to become an accountant and the roles of an accountant can be better understood if you decide to work as an apprentice at a firm and observe accountants up close.

Did you know the demand for accountants continues to grow year after year? Are going to be one the people required to fill this demand? We would like to help you by giving advice you can count on. http://howtobecomeanaccountantzone.com/

You may have seen the widely reported estimates that the average university debts may rise to £53,000 for UK students enrolling after 2012. If you are a parent the last thing you will want will be for your children to start their adult life with a huge debt. This debt would take years to pay off, and may mean that the graduate will have to put off saving for a house purchase or saving for retirement.

This got us to thinking about answering the question as to how much you would need to put aside to provide this amount, in today’s terms, so your children can avoid a massive debt before they even start working.

Obviously, this very much depends on the length of time you have to save, and the growth of the money (after charges). Therefore, we have looked at these variables, assuming a stable rate of inflation of 3% per year. This rate is less than at present, but is a good guess at a ‘normal’ inflation rate.

The amounts quoted here are monthly savings required depending on the age of your child, assuming a level of growth after charges as shown.

Growth at 3% per year:

Age 13 – £948 per month
12 – £801

These figures probably look scary, and they are because the cost of a university education is huge.

What can be done?

These figures show the benefits of financial planning. Rather than simply working out how much you can afford, and hoping for the best, we are working the other way – what do you need to save to achieve your goal. The same is true no matter what the goal; it could be retirement, a holiday home or a new car.

There are always many ways in which you can make a plan to work towards your goals. For example, what if you were to start saving now and increase your savings each year by 5%? That would make a difference to the starting saving amount. There can be many solutions to a problem, anf financial planning can help you to work out which is best for you.

We chose 3% to give you an example of a bank account’s growth; 6% is more like a cautious investment portfolio. Take more risk and you might achieve greater growth over time. Of course, nothing is guaranteed with investments and these figures are purely for example.

Children are creative, curious and love to use their hands. Educational toys are important in any phase of their lives. As babies, they learn by touching, listening and interacting with whatever or whoever is directly in front of them. As toddlers and preschoolers, and elementary school age children, they love sharing and interaction. That’s why, as parents and caregivers, we need to seek out fun educational toys and games.

We also need to pay attention to what they watch on TV. Don’t just turn on the TV to any cartoon show. Look for those that ask them to participate, to sound out letters, to count out loud, to sing along. Children also relate to cartoons that present children as the main characters since they will relate to them because they are young and are constantly exploring. For example: preschoolers and early elementary children may enjoy programs like Caillou, Sid the Science Kid, Dora and Diego. There are so many more programs that we as parents can take advantage of that will help our children become better prepared for school and to reinforce what they are learning in school.

When not in front of the TV set, supply them with toys that also educational, that encourage learning new skills. Here are a few tips: Think of the things they would need to learn in kindergarten, or what they currently working on at school. Educational tools to use like flash cards – that may be used as a visual tool and encourage participation.

I like using flashcards as a memory game. Use a set of flashcards that have a set of upper case letters and a separate set of lower case letters. Depending on the child’s age, start with 3 or 4 letters of the alphabet, like A through D, using both upper and lower case letters, so you should have 8 cards. Place them face down on the table, and arrange them so they are mixed up. The child will choose 2 cards and turn them over. If not a match, the child must return the cards face down in their original position. If the child does find a match – upper case letter A and the lower case letter a – the child places that pair off to the side, then the next child or participating parent takes a turn. Repeat the process until all the cards on the table are matched up. The child will learn the alphabet and the difference between the upper case and lower case letters. Progress to using more cards until the child has mastered all the letters of the alphabet. Children love this game because they like winning every time they find a pair. The best way to play is to have them take only one turn at a time, whether they find a pair or not, so they all have several turns or opportunities to play.

You can play memory games with just about any type of card sets: those with pictures of shapes, colors, animals or numbers. Or, you can look for the actual memory game card sets. You may also find electronic versions of the memory game. For older school age children, you can create flashcards to match spelling words with their definitions.

Look for educational toys and games that interest your children the most or those that cover their current school subject. If you want your child to learn as much as possible for their age, present them with quality educational toys, games and software. Look for toys that are durable, colorful, and appropriate for their current skill or age level. Then work up from there. Be creative and have fun.

Kids art easels are a great alternative gift to those high-tech toys that often lose appeal quite quickly. Easels can be seen as more traditional fun way of spending time away from a computer keyboard.

Sure kids do really enjoy computer games and some are even educational, but too many games seem to revolve around shooting, punching and kicking. Some would argue that they are only games and kids can tell the difference between games and reality. But kids learn by playing, so if kids are getting to learn anything from them, can it be anything positive?

Although painting and drawing are seen as traditional activities for our children, for kids to actually have an art easel is a more modern thing. Previously there would have been few young children with an easel, more often than not, a table or floor would have to suffice. However now there is a better option, good value kids easels are readily available.

Most children will be perfectly happy painting or drawing on a table, board or floor, that is up until the time they are presented with their very own easel. Giving them somewhere special to play around with paints, pencils, crayons or chalk can really make them feel very special. You could be surprised by the difference an easel makes and the results you see.

But painting and drawing is not really about how good the results are for young children, it’s mostly about them having fun. Plus if it keeps the kids entertained for long periods of time, there are not many parents that are going to complain about that.

There seems to be an urge in most children to paint and draw. Young children haven’t “learned” like many adults that they can’t draw, they are very happy and impressed by their own results. They don’t suffer with our inhibitions, nor should they.

A little praise about a child’s work can have a big effect on building a child’s confidence to express their creative self. Some children will naturally be more gifted artistically than others, but all are capable of learning and improving with a little help and encouragement.

Kids easels can also be used to aid learning in a number of ways, either structured or unstructured. However if that easel has first been associated with having fun, any structured learning on it later is also likely to be viewed in a more favorable light.

With structured learning I’m talking about learning the alphabet, spelling and mathematics. All of which can be introduced at different times and in different ways. Easels with magnetic surfaces can be used with magnetic letters and numbers, this can be a fun way of starting to teach and learn basic skills.

The blackboard is very traditional, but a very effective way of interacting with children, it is both visual, tactile and if you talk as well, auditory, thus employing all three methods by which we learn. Plus if mistakes are made they are easily corrected.

The very acts of drawing and painting are educational and developmental, even without any further input from adults. Co-ordination between hand and eye is required for drawing, like anything that is practiced early on in life it will improve. Making any form of art improves observational skills, as does viewing art.

We tend not to question what we see in real life very often, but we seem much more critical when we see other peoples versions of reality, this can make us question things we have taken for granted. So introducing art into a child’s life can spark curiosity about many things in life.

The old poem of “All I ever learned I learned in Kindergarten” does hold true. The ability to interact with others, the ability to share, say you’re sorry when you hurt somebody, wash your hands before you eat, take a nap every afternoon, eat warm cookies and milk and above all hold hands and stick together when you go out into the world. Now, I know this sound rather simplified, but those are the most important things your young child will learn. The act of playing with others builds self esteem, teaching basic social skills, spacial relationship by building blocks and building with blocks helps with later math applications. Put things back after playing. Be nice to others. What better life lessons could a three year old learn than to be nice to others?

These are the building blocks of education. While reading is all well and fine for a four year old the ability to get along with others and play nicely and share and have confidence in their own ability to draw, paint, manipulate puzzles, clay and other art projects are vitally important to the brain and social development.

Large and small motor skills are crucial at an early age. Things like drawing, legos, blocks, cars, anything that develops those small motor skills makes it much easier to learn to write. Keep things in their proper order. While it is impressive to tell your friends that your three year old speaks fluent French and can do advance algebra, choose a preschools in Orange Country that also places heavy emphasis on social development it is age appropriate and very important for development.
